Jesus was a jew, we all know this right? well I've been thinking, if jesus was a jew, and he was perfect, does that make the jewish religion the perfect one?

Can I ask that everyone puts a reason down for their answer? why do you say no?
I've always wanted to know the answer to this question so I threw it out there.. _________________ I just lost the game

Hi Michael.
Jesus was also human, but humans are not perfect; he was also male, that doesn't make males perfect javascript:emoticon('').
I think there was a growing understanding of who God was in the OT. The people of God didn't have a complete picture of God until Jesus. The full picture is Jesus. He is the one that makes sense of the OT, and the Jewish faith, and of us.
The ways they were reaching for God, Jesus transformed. For example. They knew the kingdom of God was coming, but they though the messiah would bring it about through military victory. That Rome would get beating and overthrown. But Jesus said nah, the kingdom is already here in my life, I am the Kingdom, cause God is completely God in my life. He brought the real kingdom in, by surprise, through nonviolence and weakness, when everyone wanted it to come in power and force.
In one way he fulfilled the Jewish Faith, in a way that was unexpected.
My question is... If Jesus brought the kingdom in through submission and weakness instead of power and control, how does that challenge the way we should do this Anglican church thing? _________________ Tastes like chicken. |

If those in the OT thought that war was the answer...
Does that mean we've gone backwards? there seems to be an awful lot of war going on ATM...
and mostly over money.
America is the most powerful nation in the world right? it has a lot of money (or... it DID...), so why is America involved in war? shouldnt the Americans be using their power to HELP people, rather than kill people? thats the annoying thing about power... those with it want more... and more... and more... etc. _________________ ACH!!! Where would we be without a big bad enemy? Makes things so much more simple. Them bad us good. Unfortunately there isn't really a them and us. There is only an us, and us, and us.

Jolyon indeed puts it well
but jesus was really jewish does that not mean we should follow his example?
glad to see you countered the imperfection thing because it sounded a bit silly when I posted it
I guess i have a new question: why aren't we jews? wouldn't that be what jesus would want? since he was one shouldnt we be one too? _________________ I just lost the game
