Hey Daniel, the group which is working on fair trade stuff, etc from Forum is about to send out a document to all the different parishes to find out who is doing what. It's the first phase of our "master plan" - named that phase Scope. So we will hopefully know in a month or two's time.

did ne1 see the piece on close up about slave trade in the chocolate industry? i missed the name of the trade aid brand that came up when whitikes and cadbury were declared not trade aid.if any1 knows of trade aid chocolate brands or in any other industries they should post them. we should raise awareness and raise support for these morally correct brands. oh and congrats micheal!

Heya, if you wanna check out more about the recent fair trade stuff. There's a few facebook groups, and this one has a link to that Trade Aid vs. Whittakers Close Up article.

Michael - good on you! Daniel - when's ur speech?

Cadbury recently announced it's dairy milk will be fair trade by the time Easter rolls round next year. It's great, but I think it's a bit ridiculous that so much thanks and praise is being thrown their direction considering it's more like a pressure/marketing ploy than because it's the right thing to do.

There are a few companies who have just jumped on to the bandwagon, and only half way. I'm more appreciative of companies like Wildbean who not only have 100% fair trade coffee but also their hot choc is too - and they did it out of their own convictions.

I'm hoping to get this Fair trade in Churches thing up and off the ground shortly. But I'm gonna need a person from each diocese? So can you let me know if you are keen otherwise I may have to invest energy into Wellington Dio' before I can get it happening elsewhere

Hey Daniel,

Yup I certainly do. There's a huge part which needs to be grass roots like - so I need people in their own diocese to be contacting parishes in their own diocese to make things a bit personal. It will be after a questionaire is sent out. So to know your keen is much appreciated. When things get rolling I'll brief you on the plan/intentions.

Thanks!

Also if you want any opinions/help on your speech let me know.

As you may know, the Waiapu diocese is formed of 3 regions, so we would have 3 people, 1 for each region, as we are a fairly wide diocese, I am willing to do Hawkes Bay region

Also I can't really give pointers on my speech it just happened.. and because of it now I have to enter a speech competition ._.
