the verse this time is my favourite....

''Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the LORD your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you."

Deuteronomy 31:6

ohk, interesting. but wouldn't it provide more of a discusion point if you told us why its your favourite verse?

anyway, hope you dont mind me posting some verses on this thread? you don't? good, 'cuz i would have posted anyway Laughing

my personal favourite verse shifts a lot. at the moment i quite like Ephesians, chapter 2, verse 19-20,

"so then you are no longer strangers and aliens, but you are citizens and saints and also members of the household of God, built apon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus himself as the cornerstone"

i quite like this one because its telling us that we are accepted by God, no matter what our skin colour, our gender, our physical abilities, our intelegence, our charisma, our upbringing, our wealth or anything else that makes us different.
it also reminds us that Jesus is the cornerstone of the church. he should be the most important thing in our lives. not the good looking girl (or guy) down the road, or the next episode of shortland street, or the newest computer game, the richest i-pod, or money.

Kewlies.

todays verse is Proverbs, chpt16 verse2

God wrote:
All ones ways may be pure in one's own eyes, but the Lord weighs the spirit.

does this not mean that we should think about a course of action before we commit ourselfs to it?

also

God wrote:
A fool takes no pleasure in understanding, but only in expressing personal opinion.

chap18 verse2.

we are much too focoused on ourselfs arn't we?

this is great!

this is one Thessalonians 5:16-17

always be joyful.pray continually and give thanks no matter what happens.

lifes so much fun when everyone thinks positively. nothing seems bad
ive got a few stories to add with the verse too, like paul praising God ,while in prison,is a good example of this verses teaching. also the one about someguy ,i think he may've been martin luther, said i've got twice as much to do today i'd better pray for twice as long.it's not as easy as it sounds i'm telling you. Smile

also this topic is going to need close moderation i think. we don't want to start taking single verses out of context and spreading really abstract ideas

this topic is supposed to be about your own opinion of the passage and if you think that the passage is saying samething wrong after someone has shared there thoughts that a bit harsh. we all interperate Gods teachings in different manners and no one should be told they are wrong....

its similar to the lectio divina we did at forum (note i think that is how its spelt)

I have no specific favourite, I can never make up my mind, because I have always been extremely indecisive, So in my opinion its all good!
